Amazon Goes Green

It looks like online shop giant, Amazon, has gone green. Well, sort of.

In their latest offering, Amazon developed a platform for their users to recommend (and shop for) the “best environmentally-friendly products” that are available on their site. They have “Your Green 3,” where users vote for their 3 favourite “green products.” Those who get the most votes, etc, get shown up in a leaderboard.

Another clever marketing idea, eh?

Hopefully, the “green concept” also gets followed through to their business operations.

I’ve been noticing more and more businesses adapting “environmentally friendly ideas” in their practices. Some even use this as the central focus of their business. For example, Stubby Pencil Studio offer eco-friendly art supplies for kids (perfect for back-to-school!), that are really cute and child-safe too. Australia has The Green Directory, where a list of eco-friendly businesses and services are listed.

What about you? Have you incorporated the “green concept” in your online business yet? If yes, how?

Adsense Advertising still worth it?

Although we like or not, most blogger uses internet advertising programs such as Google Adsense to
monetize their blog.

Blogging so far is the easiest and cheapest if not free start-up business models on the internet. Maintaining a blog is easy you can utilize the free blog services offered by Blogger and Wordpress.

But making money from them a lot is a different story.

It’s not just putting up affiliate links/banners or just putting Adsense code on your blog and you will expect repeated stream of income from them.

Honestly, I have been blogging for two years now, two domains lost due to hacking and spam and again putting this blog again to repeat my Adsense earnings.

Here’s a screenshot of my Adsense earnings I received just yesterday.

Since I get interested in making profit on the net, I made a search on tips on how to make profit, joined some sites that somehow given me cents but have to work more in order to call it a real profit.

Since making money online requires, requires lot’s of e-commerce strategies and content network marketing, I am reading a lot of references on things like affiliate programs, pay per click (CPC), RSS or things like that to grab my place with other blogger’s who succeeded on this field.

I have heard blogger’s who had made blogging their full-time profession, so I wanted to have a price of that, not really be like them but in my own to get an opportunity to earn from the net.

When you are into monetizing your blog, there are many ad programs on the net, but we’ll focus on Adsense here.

Adsense is a program owned by Google. It was made for blog publishers or owners to make money by hosting other business ads on their sites related to your site and topics post. It is called contextual advertising because the ads being shown are related to your site content.

When someone clinks on the ad as shown on your blog, Google pays you the amount the advertisers (other site owner who pays Google to show their ads) and the payment varied depending on the ad being click (they call it click-through) and the site impression and so on (CPM, etc…)

I started using Adsense in my sites and other blogs eight months ago, eight long months waiting and finally earned the much awaited but frustrating Adsense income.

I read a lot of Adsense how tos and tutorials, but sometimes what is being taught is different or is unlikely to make results since every sites, or blogger’s perspective are diverse.

I can’t optimize my site for Adsense when it will affect the readability of my blog or site and make it look like another whore sites.

That’s why if you really like to monetize your site try practicing or trying to mix up different advertising programs. Do not depend on Adsense alone and I’m sure you’ll be frustrated.

Ping Crawl – Boost Your Wordpress Blog Traffic

There is another very nice plugin that helps your self-hosted Wordpress blog to provide the link juice to your other blog pages. Its called Ping Crawl made by people from BlueHat SEO.

The plugin do a simple task. I don’t have to explain further since this is the plugin summary.

Every time you make a post on your blog it grabs similar posts from other blogs that allow pingbacks using the post tags. It then links to them at the bottom of the post as similar posts. It then executes the pingback on all the posts.

You can specify how many posts to do per tag and that many will be done for each tag you use in your posts. Typically it has about an 80% successrate with each pingback and they are legit so the ones that fall into moderation tend to get approved. This creates quite a few deep links for each blog post you make and through time really helps with your link building. Especially for new blogs.

Theory Of Operation

* The plugin will listen to anytime a post is saved, published, updated, etc.
* The plugin on execution time will find all the tags on the post and perform the following per tag:
o Use Google API to check for ( 35 ) results with the tag name.
o With the ( 35 ) results it loops through them and performs the following
+ Does the result have a pingback meta tag?
+ Does the result have trackback somewhere in the source
+ (if yes to both) it stores the pingback xmlrpc location in memory.
+ (if no to either) we skip that record and move to the next.
+ Once their are 5 legit pingable servers we then append their links to the post we currently added.
+ We then retrieve the xmlrpc urls from memory, and execute a pingback.ping against the xmlrpc as defined in the pingback 1.0 spec. (due to the nature of pingbacks and php it is not a 100% guarantee. A lot of dependencies on state, server responses, headers, etc.)

Their are built in features such as caching google’s recordsets per tag, so you don’t have to make request out to google for the same use. And logic to know if you’ve already “PingCrawled” a post then on edit to ignore it, etc w/ a built in polling system.
Installation:

1. Download Plugin
2. Put file in the wp-content/plugins directory of your wordpress installation
3. Login to your blog dashboard
4. Click on Plugins
5. Click on Active to the Right of PingCrawl in the list
6. Make a Post

*Note ( because of the nature of the script any one tag can make as many as 41 HTTP request and storing source code into memory to run regular expressions against. Because of this I would try to limit my tags to no more than 3 (123 HTTP Request). Use more at your own risk.

Warning: This plugin can really slow down the time it takes to make your posts so I would recommend not using more than 3 tags per post. Also we coded in a small link injection which will put a link of mine into the mix about once every 10 posts. They will all be very white hat and clean links so no worries and if you left the code intact I’d consider that a substantial thank you for the plugin. :)

Get the plugin here.

Stop Affiliate Thieves By Using A Bar

Internet marketing is booming and there are many ways to make money online. There are tons of programs on the internet besides the most commonly used Google Adsense to make money.

The most common and the easiest way to engage in making money online is through affiliate marketing. You find the program look for something like Affiliates on the page and promote it, in a way if you are good enough to convince people you’ll be raking commission after commissions.

But easy to say that if only there are no affiliate thieves.

Promoting affiliate programs has its strong and weak points. It is not just about putting up banners (like I do LOL) and expect money to roll in. But just for the sake of argument that you are really good in marketing the affiliate products that you promote on your website, but are you sure the sale is going to you.

Let us put a concrete example on Clickbank, the undisputed leader of digital products. When you join the site (too bad I can’t since I’m from the Philippines), you are given the option to have an affiliate link which look like this: http://yourusername.powerbooks.hop.clickbank.net.

If I am the thief, and I would just replace the yourusername with my clickbank id and presto the affiliate commission is mine!!!

There are many programs that give you an affiliate link like /?e=paypal@yoursite.com or just plain /yourusername after the domain or whatver the case.

Since this is mostly the problem of affiliate promoters I have found this website that help affiliate marketers to combat these issues in one action by using a very powerful new tool called the ‘Viralbar’!

ViralURL

This is a tool which protects your earnings, tracks your hard work, and builds a huge opt-in mailing list. It’s been created by a long-term MVS user, Colin Klinkert and Frank Bauer.

What they have come up with is a simple, yet hyper-viral, system for putting your efforts on Steroids. It will show you how you can stop the thieves by cloaking your links, build a list on auto-pilot, build a new stream of income, show your text ads on Viralbars around the globe, earn ad credits to show on sites and all that without doing anything different!

It also features cool marketing service with great bonuses.

Check it out here. Oh, I forgot. It’s FREE! Try it out here
